Cooking master boy or Chūka Ichiban! is an anime adaptation to the manga created by Etsushi Ogawa. In 1997. The adaptation has a total of 52 episode aired on April 1997 - September 1998 in Fuji Television. The setting of the story takes place in china around the 19th century. The story revolves around a boy named Mao, the son of a well known cook known as The Fairy Cuisine in their place. When his mother died, Mao became a super chef to take over their restaurant as a Master Chef. To be the greatest chef in their land, Mao travels all across china together with his friends to be A Legendary Chef.
This anime is really special for those anime followers who loves Food and Eating. this animation is a bit interesting in a way that for me it seems like it is in the boundary of being a cooking show and a bit of a fighting themed anime. The animation and art for this anime is surprisingly pleasing to the eye. The good thing about this anime is that they managed to shove a bit of a twist that made this anime different from the other cooking themed anime. With this type of plot, there are times when the story is a bit of a clische from other movies. When watching this movie, It really reminds of of the Iron Chef. Without the magical cooking utensils and such, it really is an ordinary story about a boy who wanted to be the best Cook in the land. The story is not that special and watching the series seemed boring at times. But what i really liked about the anime, is that the execution of the characters and the way they present the animation is good. And those dishes really pleases my Eyes (now im getting hungry thinking about this anime) Well if you want to watch not so usual anime, then this is one of my recommendations.
I'll Rate this 7/10 There are times when the plot is hard to understand.
