Prince of Tennis Review

Prince of Tennis or TeniPuri is an anime adaptation of the manga series written and illustrated by Takeshi Konomi. The series aired from October 10, 2001 to March 30, 2005 with a total of  178 episodes. The series is all about the sports "Tennis" and a Tennis Club founded at Seishun Academy in tokyo. The anime revolves around Ryoma Echizen an upcoming Freshman at the said school and a Tennis Prodigy. Ryoma is the son of the world renowned tennis player Samurai Nanjiro Echizen. Ryoma, after joining the tennis club as a freshman shows his potential as an amazing tennis player and was given the chance to compete against his upperclassmen to secure a spot as one of the regular players. Now Ryoma together with the other regulars are on a quest to defeat the other school's tennis club to be number 1.

This anime is probably one of my best sports themed anime. It has its ups and downs but overall this anime is great. The way the writer makes the character not overly powerful at the start made it really interesting as we watch them grow and get stronger. The story and its pacing is "A" ok. I personally don't have any negative comments about this anime until it aired the second season which involves auras and powers that made me think about the credibility of this anime. From an all sports themed anime to a semi shonen like anime with magical powers and stuff made me dislike it a little.

Overall I'll rate this 9/10

This includes the Second and Third series
