My Neighbor Totoro Review

My Neighbor Totoro  is a 1988 Animated Film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki himself. The story is about a university professor Tatsuo Kusakabe and his two daughters, Satsuki and Mei, who moved to an old house that is closer to the hospital where their mother is being confined. Since the house was inhabited for a span of time, the girls found dark-charcoal like creatures called the soothing spirits who inhabits abandoned houses. When the family is already comfortable living at the old house, the soothing spirits fled to look for an abandoned house which serves as their home.

One day  Mei found a very interesting bunny like creature hiding by the grasses going through their house. The girl manage to find a larger version of the creature that Mei found. Their father told the girls that the creature they saw was the Keeper of the Forest. The Larger spirit identifies itself by a series of roars that they interpret as "Totoro". Series of events then happens shared by the girls and the spirit that they call Totoro, Like waiting together for their father's bus to arrive in the rain. Flying and playing near the old camphor tree, plating seeds and watch totoro and the other spirits do their ceremonial dance. and Totoro helping Satsuki find Mei.

This animation is one of my favorites. If you already watched this film it's really short. But even if the film didn't involve much dialogues the story itself will give you the idea as to what morals this animation gives. The animation/drawing is not that great considering this is one of the earliest works of Mr. Miyazaki. one of the biggest success of this animation would be the enjoyment, cuddly feeling, and Lessons kids can learn. The only negative aspect i can point out is that "IT IS REALLY SHORT".

I will give this 9/10 I Love that cutie, cuddly, bear bunny
