Sword Art Online Review

Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by abec. The anime adaptation is all about a futuristic world where virtual reality mmorpg are already invented and are being  widely used by gamers and enthusiasts alike. The plot of the story happened in 2022 where Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) are used with the help of what they call a Nerve Gear. A helmet used by gamers to stimulate their 5 senses in order for them to control their online characters with their minds.

( Kazuto "Kirito" Kirigaya wearing the Nerve Gear )

The story began when the protagonist Kirito started playing the game Sword Art Online ( SAO ) invented by Akihiko Kayaba. Kirito is a beta tester so he is already a bit knowledgeable about the game when it started its debut. During the early hours playing the game it was the same as what he played before until they discovered that the log out button is no longer in their menu. After the incident they are summoned in the town of the beginning where Akihiko Kayaba told them that if they want to be free and leave the game, They must reach the 100th level and defeat the final boss. But there is a catch if ever they will reach zero and the players' Avatars will die, their bodies will also die in the real world. With this Kirito became determined to clear the game together with the companions that he will meet. Kirito will not back down.

( Kirito Battling 1 of the Floor Bosses )

In my Opinion Sword Art Online is one of the best animes aired in 2012. The mmorpg / battles themes are well made by the maker. Readers of the light novels and the followers of the anime and manga will agree that this creation is pretty good and i can give it a high 9 based on the story, the art, and the content. The only thing that makes me curious about the anime is that, the author can stretch this anime from a mere 24 episode to something even more. considering having 100 floors in the game itself makes me think why didn't they give more emphases on all of the floors?, Instead of jumping from 1 floor to another floor in a mere 2 episodes. Now the next thing i noticed is that, the anime only focuses between 2 main characters. Kirito and Asuna which make the story a little bit of a love story than an action and thrill based anime. They should have made some back stories and put other well thought characters under the lime light. The story is an amazing piece which all anime lovers and gamers easily understand.

So for this I give this anime an 8/10 rating
