Hajime no Ippo Review

Hajime no Ippo is a japanese anime adaptation to the boxing themed manga written by George Morikawa. This 76 Episode anime talks about Makunouchi Ippo a shy high school student who always gets bullied because of his over shyness. When Ippo was being bullied, He was saved by Mamoru Takamura, a professional boxer who was passing by. The injured ippo was brought to Kamogawa Gym where he met other boxers and their trainer.  Ippo's Talent was discovered in that very Gym when he punched a sandbag with great power. After that, Ippo started training under Genji Kamogawa's wings to become a boxing champion. But it will be hard for ippo since he will also fight against his newly made friends from the boxing world.

Now to start. This anime is not that great. But one redeeming factor that is obvious is that the story is a bit interesting specially if you follow Boxing events around the world. Like most of the shonen anime that I follow a stereotype character is also being portrayed in this anime. I was really hoping for a different approach for the characters.  Story wise, the transition is understandable since he basically started at the top. Unlike some shonen anime where the protagonist is already strong, Ippo started at the bottom and gain fame and power as his training went on. This anime is best suited to those avid fans of sports themed anime and other followers will be able to appreciate this anime as well.

I'll rate this anime 8/10. needs more improvement in widening the approach of the story.
